What is biodiesel?
Biodiesel is an alternative fuel for diesel engines derived from vegetable oils, animal fats and trap grease that meet the specifications of ASTM D 6751. Biodiesel is also referred to as B100 when it is not blended with petrodiesel. When blended with petrodiesel, it is referred to as a “biodiesel blend” and has a designation BXX, where XX is the percent of biodiesel in the blend.

What is ORYXE® LED+ 5510 for Biodiesel?
ORYXE LED+ 5510 for Biodiesel is the same additive technology has ORYXE LED+ 5510 for Diesel, except it has a lower treat rate that eliminates the NOx increase from the biodiesel portion of the blend. The ORYXE Energy additive will enable fuel suppliers to produce biodiesel blends in markets where NOx emissions are regulated, such as Texas. ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel has been certified by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to produce biodiesel blends up to B20 in compliance with Texas Low Emission Diesel (TxLED) regulations.

In Texas, do biodiesel producers have to use more than one additive to produce compliant TxLED?
No. ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel by itself is all that's required to treat a finished blend of 20% (or less) biodiesel and standard EPA diesel or TxLED to make it TxLED-compliant.

Is ORYXE LED+ a solution for just fuel producers or can fuel consumers use it as well?
In addition to fuel producers such as refiners and terminal operators, ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel is available to large-scale fuel consumers, such as fleets, with commercial fuel storage capabilities. Contact us for further details.

Technology

What tests were run to demonstrate product efficacy? 
ORYXE Energy's biodiesel additive technology has passed two official performance tests sanctioned by the TCEQ to demonstrate the necessary emissions reductions for the TxLED program.The company passed the second test twice. Please see Product Testing.

Is the product registered with the EPA?  
Yes. ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel is registered with the EPA under the same identification number as our diesel product (192220006).

Commercialization

Is ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel commercially available?
Yes. ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel is manufactured at our Pasadena, Texas blending facility.

In what quantities is ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel sold? 
ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel is produced and sold in bulk, mainly by the truck load.

How is ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel added to biodiesel blends? 
ORYXE LED+ for Biodiesel is combined with a finished blend of 20% (or less) biodiesel and standard EPA diesel or TxLED at distribution locations, such as terminals and refineries. The additive can be proportionally injected into the fuel at the terminal loading rack, or it can be easily splash-blended into existing biodiesel storage tanks.
